C3 Tools


                          User Management
The user management module allows administrative staff to set up users or modify existing users. Users can be assigned read only, read write, or master access.
                          C3 Options
Staff are able to control default settings of C3. These are:
  • Viewer settings – fit to width, enhance view, print cover sheet
  • Print charges – default charges and publisher fees per page and document, auto-calculation of document print costs.
  • Images – select library logo, empty document and invalid image pictures.
  • C3 public – allow or deny document searches, force or remove password exiting, set time out options.
  • Course dates – set default dates for new courses.
                          Rebuilding the Database
At times the database and indexes will need to be rebuilt when large numbers of records have been added or amended to maximise performance. C3 allows staff to do this with a database rebuild module. The rebuild module contains options on which database set to re-build, and also allows users to select which links (if any) to check.
                          Reports
C3 uses third party software called Crystal Reports Professional to maintain and develop reports. ODBC drivers are used to enable C3 to print reports. C3 comes with standard reports, but C3 users may wish to create their own.
                          MARC Records
Document records created in C3 can also be exported to MARC records for importing into other library system databases.
